With 20 acres of land in the high desert as a backdrop, the Tiny Escape is a collection of tiny homes, available to rent for relaxing getaways.  Each stay offers an experience curated for the swath of land on which it is built. Their goal is to create space to create, relax and simply get away from the noise.

Moving from Brooklyn, owners John and Hannah found themselves leaning away from traditional paths in life.  They sought a more tangible connection with life beyond screens; prioritizing time outside, together and with others.

VISION & STORY

THE BRIEF
During the construction of their first cabin, John and Hannah reached out to help create branding for their quickly growing business.  They were focused on emphasizing the environmental surroundings of their cabin while also leaning into modern and clean aestheics.

THE SOLUTION
I begin the design process for The Tiny Escape by studying the surrounding area, including
the flora, fauna and animals that call their plot of land home.  Pulling from this research,
I highlighted hand drawn elements, and organic lifework, embracing the imperfections.

THE DELIVERABLES
Primary Logos, logo variations for social, hand drawn illustrations, Color and typography exploration

“As the game for our attention becomes the singular focus of the biggest companies in history, it feels progressively more important to step away from the noise, if only for a moment, to reflect on who we are. Our dream is to build a space where that is possible.

This site will document our attempt at creating space. Join us as we navigate through zoning, planning, permitting, building and, best of all, dreaming. Each step of the way will involve the projection of a dream onto the reality we dance through — we’re going to do our best to meld the two.”

- Tiny Escape

This illustration piece / alternate logo was inspired bohemian and sgraffito art styles. When I think of the desert I imagine this art style. In this piece you’ll notice coyotes, cactuses, snakes, scorpions, as well the stars at night. I wanted to depict everything about Tiny Escape.

For the illustrative logo mark I simply wanted to hand illustrate the actual structure with brush and backdrop with a sun and moon to represent the day and night spent here
